Hyacinths in the Morning

From a distance, the hyacinths that I planted last fall were just a splash of color in the landscape. Brought inside and placed on the wide windowsill at the kitchen sink, they greet me with the details of their lovely flowers and heady aroma. We bring flowers inside so that we may better admire them and, in turn, they bring gifts of color to the eye and sweetness to the nose.

Arranging a bowl of flowers in the morning can give a sense of quiet in a crowded day - like writing a poem or saying a prayer.
